Karaoke in Calgary... the last of my pics...

Here are some more pics of our karaoke night at Glenn's Job Site in Calgary with Tina, Gianni, Lee, Wheels, and Irene.

Calgary...at the Stampede

Here a few more pics from us wandering the grounds at the Calgary Stampede. I'm not sure why, but I got talked into buying not one, but two, brooms. Apparently it's the only broom I'll ever need or have to buy ever. But I don't have a picture of said broom. But I digress. I do, however, have a pic of a man impersonating a metal Elvis statue. So that's gotta count for something.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation Part 3... Medicine Hat

I finally got off my ass and scanned more pics of our Alberta vacation on my computer, plus Tina e-mailed me a few pics that she took so without further ado, I present to you, my loyal viewer, some more momentos from our Alberta adventures. In this set you will see everything from the obcsene to the sublime during our time in Medicine Hat and Cypress Hills with Jenn and Dwayne... everything from girls making out to me riding a mule named Otis to a promo for Red Bull.

Tee Hee Whoops...

My buddy Kent just notified me that the VJ Finalist pictured with April is actually NIKKI... NOT Larissa... oops. It's funny because I even called Nikki "Larissa" when I spoke to her. Anyways, here's a pic of NIKKI and April... Take 2...

Our gracious hosts

During our three day stint in Calgary, my cousin Ian and his girlfriend Irene were kind enough to let us stay at their downtown condo. I hardly ever get to see Ian and Irene so it was nice to catch up and see some sites with them.

METRIC

As I mentioned before, April, Gianni, Tina and I got to see one of my fave bands, Metric, play at The Whiskey in Calgary. It was a great show, but they sold WAY too many tickets. It was wall-to-wall people. We tried staying by the front of the stage but there were too many drunken, rowdy people who wanted to turn the place into a mosh-pit. By the way the crowd was acting you'd think it would be an all-ages, hardcore punk show. I love Metric, but I did not anticipate a mosh pit. On a side note, April and I met Larissa from Muchmusic's VJ Search. She was very nice and laid back and she let me take a pic of her and April. So here are some pics from the show.

Speaking of nasty mullets...

At the Stampede, I saw an old woman with the best (worst?) fem-mullet EVER. So of course I had to take a picture. You just can't let opportunities like these slide. You just can't.

No, I'm not going to puke...

This HAS to be the worst picture ever taken of me. April snapped a pic of me while I was leaning over to talk to Wheels. I really hope I don't look like this too often. Wow. Oh well... at least I don't have a nasty mullet...

Pt. 2

Here are some pics from karaoke-ing in Calgary at The Job Site, where Tina hosts two nights a week. Tina's dad, Lee, and her brother Daniel, a.k.a Wheels, came out to belt out some tunes as only they can. Irene was a trooper and sang a couple Patsy Cline tunes.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation Pt. 1

Last night April and I got back from a 7 day vacation in Alberta. We spent some time in Medicine Hat to visit Jenn, then we went camping for a couple days in Cypress Hills where I rode a horse, or rather a mule, for the first time in my life. We then went to Calgary for three days to visit my cousin Ian, his girlfriend Irene as well as Tina and Gianni. In Calgary we hit the Stampede grounds, went karaoke-ing, and saw Metric live at The Whiskey. Here are some pics from our adventures. I still have to develeop some of April's pics from her disposable cameras, so here's Round 1 of our pics. I'm quite the cowboy, eh?

They only come out at night

Last night after April and I left McNally's, we went to Subway/Mac's because April was hungry for a sub. As we were leaving, this guy I went to highschool with many moons ago was sitting on the pavement and was asking people for a ride home. Me being the good samaritan that I am decided that it would ok to give this guy a ride home. I remembered this guy as being pretty hyper and quite the comedian back in our highschool days. But I guess he has fallen on some pretty hard times. As we were driving him home, he blurts out that he was diagnosed as being bi-polar when he was 18, hasn't been on his meds for a while, is flat broke, lives on $200 a month, and his grandpa died on Christmas Day. Needless to say, I instantly regretted being so generous with offering him a ride. I really didn't plan on having a complete and utter nutbar in my car, but I lived to tell the tale. For some reason, the words "I'm off my meds" aren't the most comforting thing I want to hear coming out of someone's lips at 2 in the morning.
